Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Lactic acid is a waste product of vaginal bacteria (lactic acid), which ensures the acidity of vaginal secretions in the range of 3.6-4.5. Suppositories with lactic acid help restore and maintain acidity levels and microflora , inhibit the growth of acid-sensitive pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microflora.
Lactic acid is capable of creating an acid reserve to change the shift of acidity to the alkaline side, observed during infections. This helps to strengthen natural protection against genital infectious diseases.

Pharmacodynamics
Lactic acid is a natural waste product of lactic acid bacteria in the vagina and provides a pH of vaginal secretions in the range of 3.5-4.5. Suppositories with lactic acid help restore and maintain normal pH and vaginal flora, suppress the growth of acid-sensitive pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic flora. Lactic acid creates an acid reserve to correct the pH shift to the alkaline side observed during vaginal infections. Helps enhance the vagina's natural protection against genital infections.
Pharmacokinetics
There is no information on pharmacokinetics.
Indications for use
Normalization of disturbed microflora and vaginal pH, including bacterial vaginosis (as part of complex therapy).
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, vulvovaginal candidiasis, children (up to 18 years).
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
No special studies of the drug Femilex® have been conducted during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In animal studies, there was no evidence of toxic effects of lactic acid on the fetus. In clinical studies of lactic acid in various dosage forms for intravaginal administration, no safety problems were identified. Considering the fact that lactic acid is an intermediate product of mammalian metabolism and is normally found in the human body, including in amniotic fluid and breast milk, the use of Femilex® during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible after assessing the potential benefits for the mother and risk to the fetus and breastfed infant. Before use, you should consult your doctor.
Directions for use and doses
Intravaginally. Before use, the suppository is released from the contour packaging. One vaginal suppository is inserted into the vagina (lying on your back with slightly bent legs) once a day. Use the drug only according to the indications, method of administration and in the doses indicated in the instructions.
Side effect

Femilex candles: composition
Femilex is a vaginal suppository. They are elongated in shape, with rounded edges. The color of the suppositories is white, a yellowish tint is allowed. There may be a cavity in the form of an air rod inside each dose.
The action of the drug is based on lactic acid. 1 dose contains 100 mg of active substance. Macrogol acts as an additional component.
One cardboard package can contain 5 or 10 candles.
Femilex candles: instructions
Treatment of vaginal candidiasis, vulvovaginitis and other inflammatory processes is carried out according to the following scheme: 1 suppository is administered intravaginally, mainly at night.
The dose is removed from the package, placed in a supine position with knees bent and injected as deeply as possible into the vagina. It is recommended to use suppositories immediately before bedtime, because after administration the thick consistency of the suppositories becomes liquid. If the body is in an upright position, the medicine will easily leak out, which is why the expected therapeutic effect will not be achieved.
During night sleep, the product will have the opportunity to be evenly distributed in the vaginal cavity and increase the acidity of the environment to natural values. The next morning, the liquid will flow out after the candle dissolves. Do not confuse it with discharge and look for pathological causes.
The normal vaginal fluid range is 3.5-4.5 units. Already from the first application the required value will be achieved. For mild urogenital infections, a 5-day course is sufficient. If a woman suffers from relapses of the disease, she will need to buy a package of Femilex containing 10 pieces and continue treatment for 10 days.
Femilex during pregnancy
Due to the fact that there has not been a sufficient number of studies on the use of the drug in pregnant women, it is impossible to say unequivocally about the safety of suppositories. Based only on scientific works devoted to the study of the effect of lactic acid on the fetus in animals, it can be stated that no pathologies have been recorded.
At the same time, medical science has proven that lactic acid is a natural metabolite that is normally present in the human body, including in amniotic fluid. Therefore, there is no prohibition on the use of Femilex for pregnant women. But before starting treatment, you need to consult a specialist and choose the required course.
Indications for use of Femilex
Alkalinization of the vaginal microflora negatively affects the health of the reproductive system. The human body has a unique and very complex immune system that defends against the onset of pathogenic bacteria every day. As soon as the balance of a healthy defense system is disrupted, bacteria begin to multiply rapidly and provoke the manifestation of unpleasant symptoms associated with infectious diseases.
The vaginal environment is filled with a wide variety of microorganisms, including fungi, staphylococcus, and many other microbes. In an acidic environment, they cannot multiply and become the cause of diseases and inflammatory processes. But if for some reason the pH level changes to the alkaline side, bacteria and fungi have the opportunity to replenish their colonies.
In a situation with an alkaline environment, relapses of thrush, vulvovaginitis, and cystitis occur. Taking a course of antibiotics and antifungal agents only temporarily solves the problem, killing numerous colonies of microorganisms. Until the acidity of the vagina is restored, the pathogenic flora will grow again and again.
Indications for use of Femilex are:
- inflammatory processes of the vagina;
- chronically recurring relapses of thrush;
- frequent infectious bacterial infections of the reproductive system.
Femilex suppositories can also be prescribed as an additional remedy as part of complex therapy during primary infection.
If, after sexual intercourse with your regular partner, irritation occurs in the intimate area, you can use Femilex suppositories. This reaction of the body to contact with foreign flora indicates that local immunity is significantly reduced. A drug based on lactic acid, which will restore the joy of intimate life, can correct the situation.
If after completing a course of treatment the symptoms persist - inflammation occurs after each intimacy, it is necessary to examine the partner in order to identify the pathogen and get rid of it. During treatment, it is recommended to maintain sexual rest until the analysis of both partners shows the absence of infection.
Contraindications
The drug is not suitable for women with individual intolerance to one of the components of Femilex. It can manifest itself as a burning sensation and itching that occurs 15-20 minutes after the administration of the suppository. If a negative reaction occurs, treatment should be stopped and a doctor should be consulted to change the drug.
It is preferable to treat vulvovaginal candidiasis with special fungicidal agents. It is more reasonable to use Femilex after removing the fungus, in order to increase local immunity against relapses.
For girls under 18 years of age, treatment with suppositories is not recommended due to the non-child dosage form. All inflammatory processes that occur in a child must be treated systemically and strictly according to the recommendation of a specialist.
