When thirst is normal
There are many relatively healthy reasons for Thirst that make you thirsty.
- Physical activity, such as vigorous exercise.
- Heat.
- Eating salty or spicy foods.
- Non-compliance with drinking regime.
- Too much alcohol or caffeinated drinks.
- A cold or other illness that is accompanied by a high (over 38 °C) temperature.
- Vomiting or diarrhea.
- Skin burns - from thermal to solar.

- Taking certain medications. For example, diuretics (diuretics) or antipsychotics.
It's normal to be thirsty. If the thirst subsides after you swallow a glass of water or even two or three, and does not return for several hours, you are fine.
