Description

More than two hundred species belong to the genus Bidens of the Compositae family, and only one of them, Bidens tripartita, is a medicinal plant. Most others are poisonous, and attempts to use them for treatment can lead to poisoning. To prevent this from happening, you need to know what a tripartite sequence looks like.

Tripartite sequence

Herbaceous bushes in a series of tripartite up to one meter high are covered with narrow leaves with a serrated edge on short petioles. Each leaf has a long central part and two shorter lateral parts, which gave the name to the species - a tripartite series. Dusty yellow basket inflorescences surrounded by green narrow leaves appear at the ends of the shoots and in the axils of the leaves.

Tripartite series belongs to the hygrophytes; it grows in wetlands, gently sloping banks of lakes and rivers, and flooded meadows, forming difficult-to-pass clumps. It is also found in irrigated fields and vegetable gardens, like a weed. For normal development, this annual plant needs warmth; it does not grow in cold climates.

Composition of the sequence

The highest concentration of beneficial microelements accumulates in the leaves and tops of the stems. Therefore, the listed parts of the culture are taken for medicinal purposes.

The plant is rich in vitamins, microelements and other substances:

  1. Retinol (vitamin A). Normalizes metabolism. Prevents the development of heart disease. Takes part in the formation of teeth, bones, and protein synthesis. Slows down the physiological processes of aging of the body.
  2. Essential oils. Improves the appearance of the skin. They normalize the functioning of the nervous system and endocrine system. Removes toxins. They regulate the intake/excretion of water and salts, their distribution in tissues and internal organs.
  3. Flavonoids. Provide protection to the body from the negative influence of external factors. Strengthens the walls of blood vessels. Activate enzymatic processes.
  4. Tannins (polyphenols). Protect cells from the effects of carcinogens. Degrease food entering the stomach. Prevents the formation of cancer cells. They have a bactericidal effect.
  5. Zinc. Reduces wound healing time. Stops nail splitting, hair loss, and prevents stretch marks. Helps in solving problems with potency. Promotes timely puberty. Stabilizes heart function. Restores appetite.
  6. Iron. Provides the necessary level of cellular, systemic metabolism. Destroys oxidation products.
  7. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Stimulates the functioning of the endocrine glands. Has a beneficial effect on the functions of the nervous system. Successfully fights free radicals and removes them from the body. Helps in the absorption of iron. Characterized by the presence of antioxidant properties. Responsible for neutralizing toxic substances. Has an antimicrobial effect.
  8. Potassium. Neutralizes the adverse effects of sodium on blood pressure. Cleanses the body of toxins. Preserves calcium in bones, prevents the development of osteoporosis.
  9. Magnesium. Converts food into energy. Protects the kidneys from the formation of stones, regulates the functioning of the thyroid gland and prostate. Promotes urine retention.
  10. Chromium. Maintains the necessary balance of sugar in the blood serum. Reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Strengthens bones.
  11. Copper. Eliminates free radicals. Actively participates in the “creation” of red blood cells. Prevents heart disease, lowers high blood pressure, histamine levels. Supports immunity. Helps energy production, iron absorption, bone development.
  12. Calcium. Skeletal-forming substance. Activates the actions of enzymes involved in maintaining ionic balance. Fights cholesterol.
  13. Bor. Stimulates protein synthesis. Improves bone structure and brain function. Normalizes the exchange of nucleic acids. Reduces the formation of kidney stones by reducing oxalates in the urine. Promotes muscle growth. Stabilizes the body's condition during menopause.

Wikipedia

If plants could, like people, be divided into classes, then the line would be considered the most ordinary common people - it is so omnipresent, accessible, the soul is open, generous - take as much as you want. It seems to be one of the oldest medicinal herbs, but it has remained a scrofulous herb for centuries. Even Avicenna and Amirdovlat did not devote a single line to her.

True, in Russia the popularity of the string was quite large; it was harvested in 29 provinces, but the raw materials were used in past centuries only within the country, since in the West the string was not considered a medicinal plant.

In Tsarist Russia, scrofula was a fairly common disease, and the “Self-instruction manual for rural treatment” (1866) said: “Not only the common people use the series to treat scrofula, but many of the upper class resort to it, often combining it with herbs for greater effect Ivan da Marya, mother-stepmother and burdock and sarsaparilla roots. Usually, for a glass of boiled water, they take two good pinches of this mixture or one series, insist: the poor - in a makhotka or pot over low heat, and the rich - in a kettle on a samovar; after 1/4 hour, drain the liquid and give it to drink with honey or sugar in the morning and evening in a tea cup or glass.”

The methods of decoctions of the series were often combined with washing the same areas of the body affected by scrofula, recalls the “Tutorial Book...”.

The demand for the series has not decreased and now, on the contrary, has increased, especially in Western countries. After all, what is scrofula? Roughly speaking, nothing more than an allergy. One of the most fashionable diseases now.

Recently, the Japanese have become interested in the series, and along with them the Chinese and Koreans.

People use the series primarily for metabolic disorders, all kinds of skin diseases, gout, arthritis, liver and spleen diseases, and various digestive disorders. Tea from the series is drunk after meals for vitamin deficiency and ulcerative colitis. Experienced healers prepare a medicine from it for cranial injuries and concussions.

Collection of medicinal raw materials

It is recommended to use above-ground parts of the plant (stems, leaves, flowers), as well as roots, as medicinal raw materials. The grass should be collected at the beginning of flowering, and the roots should be dug out of the ground in the fall, at the end of the fruiting period.

The collected raw materials can be dried in the fresh air, protected from direct sunlight and periodically turned over. When drying in special devices, the temperature should not rise above 40 °C. Store raw materials by packing them in bales or bales and placing them in a well-ventilated, cool room.

Composition and properties

The ends of stems and shoots with leaves are harvested as medicinal raw materials. The string owes its medicinal properties to its chemical composition:

  • polyphenols and other tannins;
  • manganese;
  • carotene;
  • vitamin C.

Due to the high content of manganese ions and vitamin C, the string has a beneficial effect on metabolism. As a result of its intake, the functioning of the endocrine glands improves, hematopoiesis processes are activated, and the composition of the blood improves.

Carotene, contained in large quantities in the herb, in the form of oil extracts, is well absorbed by the body and acts as an anti-inflammatory and wound-healing agent.

The abundance of polyphenols and other tannins ensures the high bactericidal activity of the drugs. This herb also normalizes the gastrointestinal tract and produces a diuretic and diaphoretic effect.

Composition, useful characteristics

The largest mass of useful elements is concentrated in the apical part of the stem and in the leaf blades. The following substances were identified in the sequence:

  • mucus;
  • carotenoids;
  • B vitamins;
  • flavonoids;
  • essential oil;
  • coumarins;
  • tannins;
  • polysaccharides;
  • bitterness;
  • ascorbic acid.

The presence of minerals necessary for the body is noted - iron, magnesium, calcium. The structural formula contains sulfur, potassium, manganese. Nickel and boron were detected.

The rich chemical composition determines the various beneficial properties of the series:

  • antipyretics;
  • blood purifying;
  • regenerating;
  • diuretics;
  • hemostatic;
  • antiallergic;
  • calming;
  • wound healing;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antitoxic;
  • antiviral;
  • sweatshops;
  • bactericidal.

The healing properties of the string are expressed in improving digestive processes and normalizing metabolism. It increases appetite, promotes wound healing, lowers temperature, and eliminates inflammatory foci. The series is used as an antidote if it is necessary to provide assistance for snake or scorpion bites.

After taking medicinal formulations based on this herb, breathing becomes freer, blood pressure decreases, and immunity is strengthened. The functioning of the nervous system is stabilized, the functioning of the spleen, heart, and liver improves. The body receives the vitamin and mineral elements necessary for life.

For these purposes, doctors recommend drinking tea in a row. Medicines containing swamp arrow are used effectively for bronchitis; they cope well with purulent discharge when coughing, and help liquefy and remove sputum.

For children

This plant is considered the most suitable for bathing children. Seed extract is included in many bathing products, creams, and lotions. The main value of the herb for children is its antimicrobial effect and the prevention of skin inflammation (diaper rash on the folds, prickly heat, rashes). It is recommended to use a sequence for bathing infants after the umbilical wound has healed. The plant is used (together with other antitussive herbs) for coughs in children that are allergic in nature. Sequential therapy must be coordinated with the pediatrician.

Application in gynecology

An infusion of the tripartite series is also used to relieve symptoms of gynecological diseases.

Vaginal douching eliminates burning, itching, reduces the manifestations of vulvitis, colpitis, thrush. To prepare a solution for douching, take a couple of tablespoons of string per half a liter of boiling water and leave for a quarter of an hour in a water bath. The filtered solution is heated to body temperature and injected into the vagina with a syringe. It is better to douche at night; you must repeat the procedure daily for 5 days.

If the symptoms are too disturbing, you can douche twice a day, but it is not recommended to extend the course for more than 5 days, as this can lead to an imbalance of the microflora and drying out of the vaginal mucosa.

What it looks like and where it grows

Chereda is a heat-loving annual plant distributed throughout almost all of Russia. A lot of this grass grows in the Caucasus, and most of all in the Far East. It is also widespread in Belarus and Ukraine, and is found in the Alps (Italy) and other European territories. Grass loves a moist and warm environment, so there is a lot of it near swamps and ponds.

More recently, back in the 19th century, string was collected as a medicinal plant in huge quantities. The main procurement areas were the Krasnodar and Stavropol territories.

If you translate the name of the plant from Latin, it will mean “two teeth.” This name is given to the plant because of the structure of the fruit, which is a flat seed with two serrations. The barbs easily fall from the plant, cling to clothing and animal fur, and are thus transported over long distances. Ants also actively help the plant spread.

The three-leaf series was named because of the special structure of the leaf. It is, as it were, divided into three parts, the largest and longest of which is the middle one. The leaf edges have a serrated-toothed pattern, parallel to each other. This plant is popularly called “swamp arrow”, trailer grass, scrofulous grass.

The grass begins to bloom in early July and until September; the flowers are dull yellow in color. The most useful sequence is at the moment of flowering. The inflorescences have the shape of a basket. The central stem of the grass reaches a height of more than half a meter.

Collection and storage

The string should be collected during the flowering period, since it is at this time that the maximum amount of useful substances is present in it. Therefore, you need to prepare for the start of the harvest at the beginning of July or the end of June. At the top and side branches of the stem, inflorescences begin to form - yellow tubular baskets with a diameter of no more than 2 cm. The string should be collected during the budding phase in dry, sunny weather.

The leafy upper parts of the shoots, ground parts with large leaves and side branches no more than 15 cm long serve as medicine. It is necessary to collect medicinal herbs as far as possible from landfills, roadways, waste ponds, industrial and manufacturing enterprises. The herb needs to be dried and then stored in a fabric bag in a ventilated area for about three years.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding

With the onset of pregnancy, hormonal levels change dramatically, which leads to the appearance of skin problems - increased dryness, rashes. Since expectant mothers need to reduce the use of medications to a minimum so as not to harm the fetus, they can use a series during this period. You can make masks from it, use a decoction instead of lotion.

You can wash yourself with it if you have thrush, but not longer than 5 days, so as not to dry out the mucous membrane.

This herb can also be used during lactation. But these recommendations apply only to those women who do not have individual intolerance to the substances included in the chemical composition of the plant

Collection and preparation

Seed grass is harvested at the beginning of summer, before flowering, since plants picked during the flowering period have time to ripen their seeds during drying, and the raw material becomes rough and prickly.

Large leaves and leafy ends of stems and shoots no longer than 15 cm are plucked from the bushes. The raw materials are dried away from sunlight or in dryers, heating no higher than 45°C. A sign of good drying is the fragility of the stems. Dried string grass has a shelf life of 2 years.

String harvesting (collection, drying, storage)

Green raw materials are collected in early June, before flowering.
Collect the upper part of the main stem, side stems, and leaves. Dry the plant in a shaded, ventilated place. You can tie the stems into a broom and hang them, or you can lay them out on clean paper and stir them periodically. Oven drying at 40°C is allowed.

Dried raw materials are stored in fabric bags or in boxes lined with clean paper. The shelf life is 2 years.

The tripartite series is similar to poisonous related species: radiate, drooping, hairy. Therefore, a person who has little knowledge of medicinal plants is better off buying ready-made raw materials at a pharmacy.

Herb succession in medicine

For a long time, experts have been prescribing this plant in combination with other medications. Sometimes it is its use that helps the body cope with the disease. The series is included in ointments, balms and hair conditioners. It is prescribed for skin rashes, nervous tension, hemorrhoids and a number of other diseases. The plant has a wide spectrum of action.

For diabetes

Diabetes mellitus is a disease associated with a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism in the body, due to which urine and blood tests contain high amounts of glucose. Excess sugar, constantly moving in a person’s blood, over time leads to a failure in the removal of toxins from the body, resulting in a headache or a feeling of burning and itching on the skin.

Many people believe that skin problems are only the work of a dermatologist. But in fact, itching of the skin can be one of the symptoms of diabetes. It may be caused by metabolic disorders, another consequence of this disease. It is the skin that primarily signals processes of change in the body, even minor ones.

As a result of excess sugar in the blood, small blood vessels become clogged over time, causing the normal functioning of the kidneys to be disrupted. This leads to retinopathy and microangiopathy.

Due to poor kidney function, toxins cannot be eliminated from the body and are therefore deposited in it. The high content of toxins leads to dry and rough skin, burning and itching. It is in such cases that the beneficial properties of the series save the patient’s body and alleviate his condition. Baths with the addition of a decoction of the string help cope with skin problems, and ingestion helps remove toxins from the body and strengthen the immune system.

Using the herb in combination with other medicinal plants, you can lower sugar levels or improve insulin production without chemicals. Of course, you should not start herbal medicine without consulting a specialist. It is he who will be able to select the collection that is most suitable, based on the analyzes. It should also be taken into account that herbal medicine is a fairly long-term process. But in diabetes mellitus it is the most effective, relieving the patient of adverse manifestations.

The sequence will help improve metabolism in the body, as a result of which the sugar level will return to normal.

For gout

The series has a diuretic effect and stabilizes the metabolism in the body, so it is excellent for treating a disease such as gout. After all, the cause of this pathology is excess uric acid. Joints and other tissues are susceptible to crystal formation due to high uric acid content. It also promotes the formation of kidney stones.

This disease must be treated only under the supervision of a specialist. The doctor prescribes medications that control the metabolism of purines and uric acid, along with them anti-inflammatory drugs are taken, hormonal therapy and a strict diet are prescribed.

In addition to medications, herbal medicine can also help cope with the disease. Folk remedies can relieve pain and prevent the occurrence of new attacks of the disease. The water in the basin should not exceed 37 degrees, this is necessary to maintain the therapeutic effect.

For allergies

In order to cope with an allergic reaction, infusions, ointments, decoctions, and baths from a series are used. The maximum result can be achieved only after the patient stops contact with the allergen in every possible way. This medicinal plant can be used only after a tolerance test has been carried out, since this herb itself contains allergens. To prepare a bath, you need to take 30 g of the plant and pour 250 ml of boiled water into it. Leave for 10 minutes in a water bath, then filter and add to the bath. For a volume of water of 200 liters you will need 2 liters of decoction.

In order to get rid of such an ailment, you should include a decoction from the string in the child’s bathing water. For mastopathy

Mastopathy is a fairly serious disease that, if neglected, can lead to breast cancer. Therefore, the treatment of this disease should be approached with sufficient seriousness. Herbal medicine can be used in combination with the main treatment and only after consultation with a specialist.
